In
our diverse botanic garden are eight biotopes (naturally laid ponds
without foil) that are feed through our own underground spring. This
means the ecological balance (natural filtering) is held in check and
therefore a large selection of frogs, toads, bull frogs, lizards and
fire-dragons can be seen. Also the delicate and rare "Geldbrandkäfer"
and the shy ring snake feel at home here. Our mustard watercress is
also to be found there! Our foreign security guard, Darwin, (A
Victorian Black Swan) is often rude to any "invaders" as one should be
aware when enjoying a glass of Elderberry sparkling wine there! A
variety of birds are also to be viewed, for example: Mirror, Blue and
Nun titmouse, Gratenrotschwanz, Wren, Rotbrüstchen, Bach and
Schafstelzen, Bull finch and different sparrow species: Yellow-hammer,
Hedge sparrow, Finch and Woodpecker, Goldhähnchen, Blackbird and
Thrush. The majority of them have been brooding their young here
regularly over the years and since 1995 sparrows nest in the furrows of
the Museum wing. The King white crane dines from our ponds and in
summer we have a melange of colour in both butterflies and wild flowers.
Due
to the fact that our garden is not over cultivated or kept "English
style" many species of animals have found their homes there. For our
guests the garden is open for pre-dinner drinks as well as for cocktail
parties before a function. Nature lovers and people that understand the
"pros and cons" of owning animals will feel at home along with them, in
our small piece of paradise.
We find it a pleasure to welcome you to "Jägerhaus" and hope you will feel right "at home" by us!
